Getting Back on the trail today

I had a wonderful two nights at the Sheraton Four Points in Knoxville, TN. I spent the time going through my gear, resupply boxes, repacking, eating, visiting with my hubby and resting. It was a fabulous day off. I missed being with the boys on Easter and all of our church family but it was still a wonderful time.

It’s all uphill again. Coming in to town is always a nice change of pace, minus all the people but when we leave its always up. And up we hikers go with loaded packs for our next stretch of the trail. Everyone has their own unique item they like to restock with. Mine is tangerines. I pack a bag of them and share with whomever is lucky to be near me when I arrive at the shelter or campsite. That’s a lot of weight to carry but it is so much fun to see my fellow hikers get so excited over the fresh fruit.

Today’s weather looks nice but thunderstorms are predicted for the next few days. Not sure what to do about that. It is hard to predict the weather up in the mountains. It can be hot and sunny on one side and you hike a few hundred yards, crest the ridge and it is cold and windy. One day I felt like I was a “super” model constantly changing my wardrobe at a fashion show. The trail being my runway and my designer clothes by LLBean, Gortex and Smartwool.

Almost back to the trail. Not sure when I can check back in. Cell service is not very good. But after all, that’s why I am out there, to go where few have gone.

Happy Hiking
