Appreciation for my readers

Today I just want to say thank you to all of you who are following me. Even though I am walking the trail solo I have you in my thoughts.  I am amazed each time I check my stats by the number of you who are taking the time to see me. It gives me encouragement and motivation.  I like to think I am not doing this just for me but for all of you as well.

I made it into Erwin, PA yesterday afternoon. I rented a single one room cabin. It’s really just a small bedroom. But it has a bed with clean linen and heat. I had junk food for supper since the shuttle was not available to town. I am currently hoping to catch the breakfast shuttle. I am famished. I need a few groceries also to get me through the next 6 days to Hamilton.

I  taking it easy today. I am hoping that Karl and Steve (Cubby and Pops) will catch up to me and we can head out together. Only doing a short hike when I do hit the trail. I did some long days the last four on my feet and they are tired.

Yesterday I came across two different sets of section hikers. The first was a group of high school guys who we just out for a couple days. They were really nice and laid back. They even shared a tangerine with me and one fetched me some water. The other section hikers were Todd and Chris, brothers who hike 1 week at a time twice a year. They do whatever section they can and just keep mossiing up the trail. I hiked with them for a short distance. At 4 o’clock each day they start looking for a place to have their afternoon taudy. I was with them when they stopped. They pulled out chairs from their packs along with cheese, salami, and their drink. We all sat and chilled on the trail and enjoyed the woods and good weather.

It was so nice to have contact with both these groups. The thing about section hikers they are usually more relaxed and slower. Thru-hikers always have a goal and or destination they must get to and sometimes forget to slow down and enjoy. This was me the last 4 days. Today I am taking it slow and easy.
