It was only a cow

if you read my previous post you will understand today’s title. The beastly noise that scared Fruit Smoothie and I was only a cow. It sure was a weird sounding heifer. We had no idea we were so close to farm country until the morning and we could see the fields. We heard “bear” all day long.

Last night we stayed at a shelter that has some tragic history. Google Wapiti Shelter if you’d like to read about it. We all were fine.

Today I was up at 4:00am and on the trail by 4:45am. I hiked by head lamp for over an hour. It was all uphill. Glad I couldn’t see it. I had 18.3 miles to cover today and wanted them over as fast as I could so I had more time to rest in town. Town days are not as relaxing as I’d like. Too many chores to do, laundry, resupply, repack, air things out, shower and hopefully find time to elevate the feet. I am taking a nero tomorrow and don’t plan on getting up too soon.

Happy Hiking but for now, I am going to bed in a real bed with a real pillow.
