Happy Memorial Day everyone.

I survived the roller coaster. I completed 10 miles of it by 5pm. It took me 7 hours to do that section. Bruce hikes in south bound to meet me and he did a 13+ mile day today. His longest so far. Usually I average 2mph. I still have 3.5 more miles of the beast to finish this morning. I’d like to say then it’s smooth sailing but let’s be real, this is the AT. The only thing smooth about it are the road crossings.

Yesterday I passed the 1000 mile mark and today I will end up just outside Harpers Ferry, WV. Which means I will cross into my 5th state. WHOO HOOO. We will glide into Harpers Ferry tomorrow morning and visit the cute little historic town and hike back out. The AT Conservency is also located there. They will take our photos and register us. I was number 304 when I registered in Georgia.

I am back with my hiking buddies GQ and Walking Man. Yeah!!!! They are awesome. We all tented at the Bear’s Den hostel. A really nice place. I’d like to come back and visit here.

Today I also say bye to my personal trail angel for a few weeks. He must go to work and take our son Patch to his kicking coach in Florida. Good luck Patch. Learn lots so you can help your team be successful at UMaine this fall. Go Black Bears!!!!

Thank you to hubby for being my Sherpa this week. It allowed me to rest without leaving the trail. I feel whole again and rejuvenated, Just in time for a week of forecasted T-storms every day. Sounds electrifying.

Just a side note: those of you who are my friends on Facebook, somehow I lost the App on my phone and can’t reload it cuz I don’t remember the log in info so you can’t follow me there. And I don’t post on trail journals much because it is to challenging with the phone.

Well. I must get hiking.

Please remember all our loved ones who have passed on as you enjoy your Holiday today.

Happy Hiking
