Rescued from Duncannon

I met a day hiker today who said that Duncannon was a nice hiker town. We hikers like to hear that. My expectations were high. They were soon deflatted. Only one person said hi. Two people actually moved away from the side walk from me.

Made it to Duncannon, PA.  Chose to stay at a campground on the far end of town. The trail exited the woods and strolled through town for about 2.5 miles making today’s 16.5 miles a 19 mile day. I was glad to get to the camp ground so I thought.

I was so happy when two fellow hikers, Philamanjaro and Popscile

showed up so I wouldn’t have to tent alone. The camp ground gave me the “willys”. They had the same feelings. Their friend Star Shine

showed up moments and said her friend was coming to get her. He wisked us all back to his house.

Thanks Matt.

I have been so blessed. As Psalm 23 says, “…Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” Whenever I have seemed to really need help it arrives. Not that I needed much coming off a “vacation” with Sister Bear and BIL Bear but I was really not wanting to stay at that place and I couldn’t walk any further besides there was no other campsite or shelter for miles.

So thanks Matt for opening up your home and for your military service. You have been a blessing.

Happy Hiking
