Another 14 miles in the log book

Step by step, mile by mile hiking still makes me smile. I logged another 14 miles today. That seems to be the magic number that keeps my feet happy. I should be satisfied with those figures but after doing high miles in the past cutting back to such a low number seems to be a setback for me. I will get over it. It is more important to listen to my body. Too many hikers have gotten caught up in doing big miles too soon, too often, and too long then they burn out. Not me though. That’s why I am in a hotel again tonight. No burnout here. Just miles of smiles

This is tonight’s dinner. It was soooo gooood and so needed. Both Hubby Bear and myself were in need of a good nourishing meal with lots of calories. I was really hungry today on my whole hike. A new level of hungry has creeped into my being. The last 4 nights I have woken up at midnight starving and have had to eat. One of those midnight feelings I made a sandwich and topped it off with chips and a soda then slept like a baby.

Not a whole lot to see today with the cloudy and drizzly weather. There has been a lot of that lately. But this natural “kissing ball” hanging in the tree are quite common. They are actually some kind of anomaly that is a deformity.

I really like all the rocks I see. Sometimes they seem placed just for me to take my breaks.

This was another ridge line. The trail did not go up that one. Ropes would have been needed to scale that.

Tomorrow is a zero day. I will be resting and relaxing with Hubby Bear. No hiking for me. It’s probably a good thing I will not be on the trail on June 21st since it is naked hiking day. It is a tradition on the first day of summer. I decided to zero to rest up and so I wouldn’t be tempted to partake in the annual ritual.

Happy Hiking.
