What do you expect for free

13.8 miles today. I ended at mile 1423.8 which got me to Clarence Fahnestock State Park in New York. Nothing super exciting to see on the trail. It was just a rolly-polly stroll through the woods with moderate rocks to navigate. A few times there were stretches of smooth and flat trail that was built up with a rock wall so we didn’t have to dip down into a ravine. How nice, random, but nice.

A few budding artists had their work displayed at a trail crossing information awning. That was cute.

I met these three ladies last night at the pavilion. They are a mother and two daughter team from Australia. I love listening to them talk.
Hikers camp free at Clarence Fahnestock State Park so we made this my destination point for today’s. It was a good fit for my daily miles. They have designated sites for AT hikers. Here is our.

What do you expect for free? I was at least hoping for something free of poison ivy, a few less rocks and a little more level. It sure isn’t the Sheraton. But it is home for the night.

I called Phil at LLBean to see if they still carried my poles., since I forgot mine in a bathroom a couple days ago. Phil is an awesome store rep at the Flagship store in Freeport. He helped me several times when I was searching for equipment. He is a wealth of knowledge also. He found my poles and put them aside with my name so when Hubby Bear called back he could figure out where to have them shipped. They will be waiting for me when I reach Kent, CT.

In about 32 miles I will reach New England. I am so excited. That is a huge mental mile stone for me as well as mileage. To be back in New Englang will be awesome.

Until next time, Happy Hiking.
