Wow, what an incredible gift

After a wonderful dinner at Chili’s we walked back to the hotel where Wye Knot and Batman went down to the pool and hot tub. I soaked me feet and finished up my packing then joined them.

Wye Knot sat quietly on a lounge chair working on something. I thought it was an item for his sore feet. He spent a long time on it. Batman and myself enjoyed hopping from the hot tub to the pool then sauna. We did two cycles of this. As we were toweling off to head upstairs because it is way past hiker midnight, Wye Knot presents us with a very special gift. It was a beautiful anniversary card and inside was a hand carved piece of wood in the shape of a heart. I knew exactly where it came from as soon as I saw it. On yesterday’s home we came upon a felled beech tree on the trail that someone had chopped in several places leaving wood chips all around. We both had stopped and eyes the remarking grains of the inside of the tree. I remember actually running my fingers over the wood and saying what a shame it couldn’t be hauled out and made into a piece of furniture to be enjoyed in a home. Little did I know I would receive a piece of this tree.

Thank you Wye Knot for spending so much of your valuable Nero day on us. So glad we are hiking buddies.

Happy Hiking.

(I will upload a picture of the heart later)
