Nero day

The trail was awesome today.

. We hiked from Kinsman Pond Shelter at mile 1811.3 to Franconia Notch at mile 1816.1. Just a short jaunt that dropped us about 1300 feet in under 5 miles. Most of it was mild and a sweet. We slept in until just before 6:00am and left the shelter by 7:30am. We were not in too much a hurry because Batman could not meet us until 11:00am. Little did we know it would take us longer to get down then we planned.

We came to Loansome Lake Hut after a little bit. The AMC, Appalachian Mountain Club owns and opperates nonprofit huts throughout the white mountains. They are really nice cabins in the woods.

We stopped in for a coffee and lemonade. I also bought Batman a Whoppie Pie and packed it out.

Once out Batman drove us to our hostel, The Notch a very nice clean place run by a young couple who love hiking and want to provide a nice place for hikers. Wye Knot and I are here and my other two hiker friends are at Chet’s place. We will zero here tomorrow so WK can rest his sore knees and ankle. The other two will hike on and we all will meet up at Garfield Shelter on Wednesday.

Batman  will drive 4 hours back home since I will be entering the mountains again and won’t have access to roads for a few days.

Glad I am not in the woods tonight. After he took me to get a burger before leaving a storm rolled in

It is raining cats and dogs and there are flash flood warnings. The storm is pretty intense as well. The good thing I have noticed is that if there are storms they come and go very fast.

Hoping for good weather Wednesday when we hit the trail.

Happy Hiking
