I have been in Maine for 1 and a half days and it has already whipped my butt. It sure is good to be home but it sure is a tough welcoming.
Mahoosuc Notch is home to the toughest or funnest mile on the AT. I know that’s not proper English but I don’t care. After covering the terrain we have done I have the right to call it whatever I want.
It really was a fun stretch but at one point Wye Knot took a very dangerous spill. He is so lucky that he was hiking between Maps and myself. He thought he saw a rock and stepped into thin air. He looked like a tree that had been felled and down he went into a crevasse. We was wedged there. He was in able to get out without our help. It could have been a fatal fall. Of course he landed on his ribs that he already bruised days ago. He thinks they are broken now.
We made it through a very challenging yet fun day and are cowboy camping up top tonight.
Happy Hiking
