I get to see Pumpkin Baby Bear today

In a few very short minutes Pappa Bear should arrive with Pumpkin Baby Bear. Yes, I get to see my hubby and our youngest son. I decided they needed trail names also whether they like it or not. I also get a new hat today.

I didn’t even get the above paragraph written and they drove in the Girl Scout camp ground. With lunch and cold beverages in hand we ate together after introductions to my most gracious hosts, Michelle Bement and the Girl Scouts. Then the three of us were off to the trail. Pumpkin Bear hiked just under 10 miles with me today. It was so much fun. He got to experience the Pennsylvania rocks first hand. It was a very easy day. Just enough small hills, rocks and boulders to make things interesting.

We had a great hike together. We saw baby birds in a nest, a couple really nice overlooks and had some really nice Momma Bear and Baby Bear time.

With about 1/2 mile left to go I noticed we hadn’t seen any white blazes. He was leading. It isn’t a good sign when you realize no blazes have been present. Since I could here the road and our ETA corresponds with my watch I said just keep going. Minutes later we intersected another trail and I peaked up that path and spotted the blaze. We were on the wrong trail.

I wasn’t going to worry about missing those few white blazes since I didn’t know I had missed them. No worries. We found the car and we were ready to get off the trail and get some grub. Only problem was, Pappa Bear was not in the car. He had hiked in to meet us. So back to the correct trail we went. We caught up to him at our wrong turn. So no white blazes were missed.

My new hat

Happy Hiking and remember to follow the signs.
